ROBOTICS WORKSHOP.....!!!!!

This workshop intends to teach you the basics of Robot building. At the end of the workshop you will be able to build your own Robot. The salient features of the Workshop are:

  • The workshop is specially designed keeping in mind your inexperience in Robot Building.
  • The primary focus of the robot will be on the practical aspects of Robot Building. However all the necessary theory will be also covered.
  • The most important part of this workshop is the Hands on Session where you will be working on the actual Robots. This is extremely important in understanding the proper application of knowledge.
  • We will be primarily working to create a Line Follower however basics of other types of Robots will be also included.
  • Problem statements of various competitions expected in the coming year will be also discussed.

The workshop will cover following aspects of robotics:

  • Circuit designing of a robot.
  • Chassis building and other basic mechanical aspects of robotics.
  • Wireless communication
  • Software Programming.
As a part of the workshop you will be given to take home following material and software.

  •  Handouts containing all the basics of robotics.
  • Set of basic software required for Robot Development.

As a prerequisite, the participants are required to have knowledge of basics of C Programming covered in 1st year of engineering. It would be great if you could revise it before coming to the workshop.

As a pre-workshop exercise you are requested to answer the following question and mail to us on roboticsgec@gmail.com on or before 28th January 2009.

1) Define Robot.

2) What are basic components of a robot?

3) Write an algorithm for a line follower.

These questions are just to make your mind to start thinking in the direction of robotics. Please do not refer to any other external source while answering them. There is absolutely no problem if you are not able to answerer any of these questions. All this will be discussed during the workshop. However do give your best try.
*There are no marks for these questions so no point in copying. J

RoboLiga is a brand new robotics competition conceptualized by ThinkLABS. RoboLiga is going to be India's biggest robotics and embedded systems competition.

At Stake

  • Internship opportunities at leading organizations
  • Training Vouchers and robotic kits worth INR 9 lacs
  • Cash Prizes worth INR 2 lacs

About Roboliga'10

Image Alt TextRoboLiga in its very first edition is going to be huge and grand covering over 600 engineering colleges across India. It is expected to attract more than 2000 participants from different parts of the country.
RoboLiga'10 is a 2-tier event. The competition has 15 regional rounds and one finals in Mumbai. The regional rounds would take place at different locations including NIT's and other prominent engineering colleges. The locations are chosen evenly such that students from different locale can participate with ease.
The top 3 teams from each regional round would qualify for the Finals in Mumbai.
To groom the students with the basics of robotics and embedded systems ThinkLABS plans to conduct 100 workshops across the country. The workshops not only will give them an edge over solving the problem statements but also help them realize the importance of robotics and embedded systems in present industrial world.

Regional Level Problem Statement

Objective: The goal of the line maze is for a robot to traverse from the start point to the end circle in the shortest amount of time. Each robot will be given 10 minutes in which they can start the attempt maximum 3 times and the best time of a single run is used to determine the results. Robots that can learn the maze on one run, and use that information to create an optimized path for additional runs, will achieve better times rather than robots running random searches each run.
